Quality Assurance Policy
Background
The Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (KIET) is currently navigating a major institutional transition following the termination of its collaborative partnership with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). This separation marks a significant shift in the universities operational and governance landscape, as the joint venture previously formed the foundation of shared policy-making, infrastructure, and human resource management.
As a result of this disengagement, KIET has been compelled to forfeit several critical resources, including access to premises and infrastructure, leading to the relocation of campuses and the need for extensive redevelopment. The dissolution has also led to a shortfall in human resources, creating challenges in academic administration and strategic implementation. Additionally, the process of segregating institutional data and redefining governance protocols has added further complexity to the transition.
Despite these considerable obstacles, KIET stands resolute in its mission to uphold academic integrity and ensure an uninterrupted teaching and learning experience for students. The institution’s foremost priority remains the delivery of quality education and the achievement of learning outcomes, without compromise.
This period of change has also provided an opportunity to reimagine and restructure the university’s operational model, realigning it with national quality standards and global best practices. With a focused approach to rebuilding its institutional identity—crafted over 25 years—KIET is leveraging the strength of its committed leadership, dedicated faculty, and supportive stakeholders.
Through the active cooperation of higher authorities and regulatory bodies, KIET continues to maintain momentum toward institutional resilience, renewal, and academic excellence. This transformation is not only a testament to KIET’s adaptability but also to its enduring vision for providing future-ready education.
In today’s dynamic landscape, the Higher Education System in Pakistan is undergoing significant evolution—expanding with purpose and embracing the critical role of learning outcomes in quality assurance frameworks, academic performance metrics, and institutional audits. Clearly articulated objectives are now being prioritized to achieve meaningful outcomes. These not only offer transparent educational value to students, employers, and stakeholders but also drive continuous improvement in program monitoring, curriculum development, teaching methodologies, and overall academic delivery.
Such efforts directly support program accreditations, elevate institutional standings in quality rankings, and strengthen public and stakeholder confidence in institutional performance. The establishment of measurable learning outcomes and structured processes allows for greater accountability and control in areas that were once considered intangible within academic quality assurance.
To ensure consistency and alignment, policy guidelines are being developed to regulate these processes systematically. These Institutional Quality Assurance Guidelines are designed to align KIET’s Quality Policy with both national and international standards and best practices, in full compliance with the Pakistan Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (PSG-2023) as issued by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

recognizing students as the primary stakeholders in the educational process, KIET is dedicated to producing competent, skilled graduates across multidisciplinary domains. The institute strives to meet students’ academic and professional aspirations while valuing their input in fostering a dynamic and progressive learning environment.
